Help & FAQ
- Where does the content come from?
- What kind of content is available?
- How is the content organized?
- What should I do if something on the site doesn't work?
All news articles on SIDS Policy & Practice are researched and produced by our Team of thematic experts, this site is not an aggregator of news from other sources. We research by being at the meetings, talking to those involved, and from official sources, not just by reading second-hand sources.
- Daily news reports researched and written by our own thematic experts
- Guest Articles by key high-level officials, written specifically for this website
- Periodic Policy Updates written by our staff
- A comprehensive calendar of upcoming small island developing States events
The content highlights the actions being taken to address small island developing States policy and is organized using four main categories:
- We present an integrated view of issues affecting small island developing States by covering and highlighting the interdependence of environmental topics like freshwater and ozone, social topics like human rights and health, and economic topics like trade and transport.
- We concentrate on major intergovernmental and multilateral actors - the organizations involved in small island developing States policy - with special focus on bodies, agencies and funds within the UN System.
- We cover a variety of actions related to small island developing States - announcements, statements, and press conferences given by key actors; meetings held to discuss scientific findings or policy, negotiate agreements, or provide training and build capacity; publications both scientific and general; project announcements and their implementation; and key binding international decisions.
- We present an integrated view of policies related to small island developing States by covering news related to the strategic areas identified in the Mauritius Strategy for the Further Implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States.
